My sincere thanks to the show committee and the members
of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Garden State for
asking me to officiate at their 1999 specialty. I had a
great time and the hospitality was second to none. Special
thanks to Joan Giesler, Melody Kist and Karen Gunzel for
their consideration and good company. My judge's gift is
beautiful and useful, and is something I use and look at
every day.
I also want to thank the exhibitors for their good
sportsmanship and for braving the very cold day to show
their dogs to me.
The following are my impressions of the entries on
the day.

6 - 9 Puppy Dogs
(6)
1. WINDHAMLAIR
THOMAS OLIVER (By Foxway Jorash Pending
Scandal x Windhamlair Black Eyed Sally). Breeder/Owner:
Pamela A. Mills. Dark red and white puppy with many good qualities.
Overall good balance and substance. Masculine head with good
expression. Good mover from all angles. Shown in lovely coat
and condition.
2. WOODHENGE DREAM CASTER (Ninacorte
Star Caster At Woodhenge x Woodhenge Summer Breeze). Breeders:
Barry & Sue Coulson. Owners: Joseph & Dora Carter.
This light red and white puppy has a pretty head and expression.
A quality puppy in full coat. Good outline standing, but drops
in the shoulder on the move. He can stand poorly in front.
3. HONEYFOX KENYA KEEPA SECRET (Llandians
Simply Sweet x Honeyfox Tell Me No Secrets). Breeder:
Susan Strickland. Owner: Judy Breuer. Tri color puppy with
a good body and balance. Okay coming and going, but not the
reach and drive of above.
4. ADURLANDS GAMBLERS GLEE OF BRYNELLI
(Belroyd Greenshank of Brynelli x Adurlands Countess Carona).
Breeder: Mrs. S. R. Tidy. Owners: Marilyn Cellucci & E.
Kovach. Tri color with pretty head and eye. Less substance
throughout than the above puppies.
9 -12 Puppy Dogs
(6)
1. STORMWEY WYLD GUY (Stormwey Wyld
Style x Stormwey Supa Doll). Breeder: Barbara Hyde. Owners:
Rutledge & Nash Parker. A light sable puppy of sensible
size for this age. Very pleasing head and expression. Good
outline standing and on the move. Good coming and going, and
from the side. Coat a bit on the blow, but a very pleasing
puppy.
2. WINDSHYR RIVERDANCE (Ch. Windshyr
A Cool Million x Windshyr Ice Dancer) Breeder: Sharon
Grous. Owners: Karen Havens & Sharon Grous. Red and white
puppy with pleasant outline. Adequate mover. Another of sensible
size for the age. Not the condition of the first puppy.
3. CORGARDS STONE COLD (Foxway Legacy Pending x Ch.
Corgard Cocktails-N-Cruisin). Breeders/Owners: Kandy L. Boll
& Michele Pohl. Light red and white dog who was well up
to size for the age. Pretty head and expression. Rear action
was good, but this puppy failed in front and was not holding
his topline on the move.
4. WINDSHYR SPIRIT OF THE DANCE (Ch
Windshyr A Cool Million x Windshyr Ice Dancer) Breeder:
Sharon Grous. Owners: Sharon Grous & Malcolm & Dusty
MacColl. Another red and white dog who was well up to size
for this class. Not quite the head or expression of the above.
Good coming and going, but topline failed on the move.
12 - 18 Dogs
(3)
1. XIII
MAPLES STELLAR IDEA (Ch. Salvenik Sweet
Thoughts x XIII Maples Star Shadow). Breeder/Owner: Ellen
C. Childs. Top quality tri color dog in super condition. Lovely
balance and proportions. Masculine head of quality. Beautiful
expression. Good front assembly with well laid shoulders and
good feet. Good angulation behind. Moving with reach and drive
from the side, and clean coming. He was a bit erratic going
away but this was easily forgiven. An absolute stand out in
the dog entry. WINNERS DOG AND
BEST OF WINNERS. My congratulations to his
breeder/-owner/HANDLER!
2. TALLYRAND BYRAM'S LOVE SONNET (Tallyrand
No Greater Love x Tallyrand Brynmere First Love). Breeders:
Joseph & Lois Zelenski. Owners: Sarah & Lauren Phillips.
This red and white dog is another top competitor. Good outline
with a super level topline. Pretty head and eye. A good solid
mover from the side, but not quite the reach of the dog above.
A bit more neck would complete overall balance. Held his topline
on the move. Good coming and a bit unsettled going away. Showing
well in the class but when it came to reserve winners dog,
he didn't want to play anymore!
3. BRUNSWIG'S BRASS BAND (Ch. Hallmark's
Olympian x Brunswig's Verbena). Breeder: Phyllis K. Farrer.
Owners: Anthony Pepe & Debra Santoro-Pepe. Typey red and
white dog with a pretty head and expression. Quality overall.
For balance, he could use more neck and length. Not the shoulder
of the above, and he can stand slack in front.
Bred-by-Exhibitor
Dogs (4)
1. FOXTALE'S SWEET TALKIN' GUY (Ch.
Llandians Sweet Success x Foxtale's Tanqueray). Breeder/Owner:
Virginia C. Fitzgerald. Red and white dog of good type. Proper
size. Won this class on his overall balance and outline. Adequate
mover from all angles.
2. WINDHAMLAIR GOLDENSEAL (Ch. Sandyshire's
Prophesea x Windhamlair Lonesome Dove). Breeder/Owner:
Pamela A. Mills. Light red and white dog with pretty head.
Good length and balance. Could use a better shoulder. Unsettled.
3. ROMEO SADDLE LANE CHAPS (Ch. Penway's
Town & Country x Saddle Lane's Irresistible). Breeders/Owners:
Juliet Mastrangelo & Andrew Carter. Dark red and white
with good length and outline. Pleasing head proportions. A
darker eye would help his expression. Okay coming and going,
but did not hold his topline on the move.
4. HILLSBOROUGH WAPI YOUNGBLOOD (Ch
Waymans Apache War Warrior, HC x Blackduck Thru A Dark Mist).
Breeder: Deborah Wheeler. Owners: Joan L. Maggio & Deborah
Wheeler. This sable dog is of a type not seen much in the
ring today. Good topline standing. Head proportions adequate.
Shoulders upright causing his side gait to be stilted.
Open Dogs
(6)
1. PEMINTENN
DAYDREAM BELIEVER (Ch. Renefield Dream Catcher
x Ch. Nebriowa Pemintenn Velveteen). Breeder: Nancy Schaefer.
Owners: Andrew Carter & N. Schaefer. Flashy red and white
dog of good length and balance. Head proportions would be
better with less width of backskull but a pleasing expression
and lovely eyes. This dog makes a lovely picture standing.
A bit loose in movement all around.
RESERVE WINNERS DOG
2. FOXWAY NIC OF TIME (Nebriowa Nicholas
of Caralon x Ch. Lamin Spur of The Moment). Breeder: S.
Mottes. Owners: Sandra Mottes & Debra Borst. This is a
very good red and white dog with lovely length of body and
good overall proportions. Good masculine head and eye. Well
constructed and should move really well. On the day he gave
everything away by being very overweight which affected his
overall balance as well as his movement and feet. A dog I
really like. I hope next time I see him he will be in better
weight and condition.
3. FESTINIOG ARBOR BEACHCOMBER (Ch.
Arbor Festiniog Rickover, CDX x Ch. Festiniog Arbor Sea Shanty).
Breeders/Owners: Margaret G. Thomas & Kathleen A. Broska.
This tri color dog has a super outline and balance. Not quite
the pleasing head of the above, but a very good corgi. Terrific
side gait and good coming and going. He, too was overweight
on the day.
4. FOLKLORE'S STAR QUEST (Woodhenge
Star Vision x Ch. Folklore's Flirtatious Miss, CD). Breeders/Owners:
Leslie & Jacob Shanks. Typey red and white with pretty
head and eye. Not the length of the above dogs. Adequate mover
but he can stand wide in the front.
6 - 9 Puppy Bitches
(8)
1. MILESTONE MOON AFTER GLOW (Ch.
Heronsway How Sweet It Is x Ch. Heronsway Velvet Moon).
Breeder/Owner: Donna M. Gilbert. Pretty sable and white bitch
puppy with tons of attitude. Dark eyes in a pleasing head.
Good length and outline. Very good side gait and good coming
and going. One might wish for a bit less length of muzzle,
and she can stand slack in front.
2. BOLD IMAGES CROWN JEWEL (Ch. Heronsway
How Sweet It Is x Heronsway Skyview Moonglow). Breeder/Owner:
Karen S. Butterworth. Another sable and white puppy of similar
type to the above with many of the same good qualities. Not
quite the side gait of the first place puppy and she runs
up behind on the move at this age.
3. ZUKI'S LIZA JANE (Ch. Hallmarks
Olympian x Zuki's My Friend Flicka). Breeder/Owner: Marilyn
Zukowski. Lovely tri bitch puppy standing. Pretty head and
eye, and a real showgirl. Good length and outline. All quality.
Upright and forward in shoulder which causes a very restricted
gait and a dip behind the shoulders on the move.
4. WINDHAMLAIR LOOKING GLASS (Ch.
Sandyshire's Prophesea x Windhamlair Lonesome Dove). Breeder/Owner:
Pamela A. Mills. Sable and white bitch with nice outline and
balance standing. Head proportions okay. Coming and going
is fine but she does not hold her topline on the move.
9 - 12 Puppy Bitches
(5)
1. FESTINIOG
ARBOR LYRIC (Ch. Arbor Festiniog Sea Epic
x Ch. Festiniog Arbor Seascape). Breeders/Owners: Margaret
G. Thomas & Kathleen A. Broska. Flashy tri color with
beautiful length and topline. Good length of neck. Her good
shoulder layback and matching angulation behind enables her
to move around the ring with good reach and drive. Her overall
balance standing and on the move are really impressive. Good
head proportions and eyes. If I could change her, I would
give her bigger ears. RESERVE
WINNERS BITCH and BEST PUPPY.
2. CARTERHALL LITTLE INDIAN (Ch.
Sunline Grizzly King x Carterhall Housekeeper). Breeders/-Owners:
Joseph & Dora Carter. Another very nice quality tri bitch.
Pretty head and eye. Good neck and topline standing. She is
a bit on the leg at this age which detracts from overall balance.
Very good coming and going, and from the side. She does tend
to lose her topline on the move, which is quite probably due
to her age.
3. BRUNSWIG'S CRAZY FOR YOU (Ch.
Royal Mark Sea Change x Ch. Brunswig's Violette). Breeder:
Phyllis K. Farrer. Owners: Susan King & Karen Fruhmann
& Phyllis Farrer. This red and white bitch is much lower
to the ground than the above. Good length of body. Head proportions
okay and will be better when she broadens a bit in backskull.
Tends to run down into her front on the move.
4. HONEYFOX STELLA BY STARLIGHT (Ch.
Sandfox Flying Finish, CDX x Honeyfox Buttons N Bows).
Breeder/Owner. Susan Strickland. This showY sable bitch has
a lovely head and expression. Nice outline. Unsettled going
away and her front assemblY is too far forward causing too
much lift in front movement.
12 - 18 Bitches (9)
1. TALLYRAND
BELIEVE IN MIRACLES (Ch. Tallyrand No Greater
Love x Tallyrand Brynmere First Love). Breeders: Joseph
& Lois Zelenski. Owners: Mary-Elizabeth Simpson &
Lois Zelenski. I fell for this pretty pretty tri bitch. Lovely
quality with the prettiest of heads. Feminine expression with
beautiful dark eyes. Correct proportions and overall balance.
She could be naughty at times, but when she was good she was
super. Good coming and going, and a balanced side gait. Beautifully
handled and shown in glowing condition.
WINNERS BITCH. Congratulations to her
breeder and to her owner/handler.
2. FOXTALE'S SINFULLY SWEET (Ch.
Llandians Sweet Success x Foxtale's Tanqueray). Breeder/Owner:
Virginia C. Fitzgerald. Another very pretty bitch in lovely
condition. Flashy red and white with a lovely outline and
balance. Pretty head with dark eyes. Good coming and going.
Shoulders a bit forward and upright resulting in restricted
reach and a tendency to run down hill.
3. TAICHRITIA WALBORAH FOOTNOTE (Ch.
Lamin Rumor Has It x Ch. Garvins On A Happy Note). Breeder:
Joan Healy. Owners: Deborah S. Harper & Joan D. Healy.
Pretty sable bitch with good head proportions and super pretty
eyes. Good balance and outline, and all quality. Good coming
and going but one could wish for better reach and drive and
possibly a
bigger ear.
4.
MYSTICAL TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (Ch.
Nebriowa Jovan x Ch. Mystical Just Inspired Enuff). Breeder/Owner:
Deborah L. Beal. This black-headed tri bitch made up a foursome
of good quality, pretty bitches. Good type with nice length
of body. Moved well from all angles. Wish she had a bit more
neck to complete a balanced outline.
Bred-by-Exhibitor
Bitches (7)
1. LLANDIANS
MAD ABOUT YOU (Ch. Heronsway How Sweet It
Is x Llandian's Simply Elegant) Breeder/Owner: Dianne
Connolly. Sable bitch with a lovely outline and balance. Pretty
head and eye. Good coming and going. She has very good reach
and drive and could be very impressive on the move. Unfortunately,
on the day, she tended to move with her head down and give
the impression that she was running down hill into her front
assembly. Nevertheless, she is a very good bitch and was a
strong contender in the winners' lineup.
2. MAPLELEAF ANGELIQUE (Ch. Windhamlair
Great Scott x Mapleleaf Fleur De Lis). Breeders: Chari
Magnan & Colette Dilorenzo. Owners: Richard & Chari
Magnan. This red and white bitch was more on the leg than
the class winner but I found her outline and balance to be
very pleasing. Pretty head and eye. Good on the move from
all angles. Wish she would make more of herself and show off
her good qualities.
3. KESTREL CALIFORNIA DREAMIN (Ch.
Pennington Ramblin Lad x Ch. Leftbank Kestrel Lucid Dream).
Breeder/Owner: Ann Caterson. Tri color bitch with good
outline and balance. Pleasing head and expression. Adequate
mover from all angles.
4. WINDSHYR BLACK ICE (Ch. Windshyr
Artistry On Ice x Ch. Windshyr A Million To One). Breeder/Owner:
Sharon Grous. Showy black-headed tri with pretty head and
expression. Good outline and balance except for a somewhat
exaggerated tuck-up. Good mover from all angles.
American-bred Bitches
(1)
1. HILLSBORO LIFE OF THE PARTY (Cadet's
Resolutions x Penny Awgy Ben Dawgy Feeney). Breeder: Diana
Lynn Zipperer. Owner: Deborah Wheeler. Tri bitch a bit on
the fat side. Pleasant head and expression with tons of eye
pigment. Good coming and going and balanced side gait.
Open Bitches (5)
1. FOXWAY JORASH BROGAN CHAOS (Ch.
Foxway Legacy Traveler x Perrymist Black Pearl). Breeders:
Sandra Mottes & Ellen Schusterson. Owners: Mari Fleming
Carroll & Sandra Mottes & Ellen Schusterson. This
red and white bitch is well off for balance and outline. Good
mover from the side. Won this class on movement and outline
even though she was very out of coat. She can stand slack
in the front.
2. FOXTALE'S TANQUERAY (Ch. Foxtale's
Jameson At Appelbo x Foxtale's A Star Is Born). Owner:
Virginia C. Fitzgerald. Pretty quality bitch in lovely condition.
Pretty head and expression. Good balance and outline. Good
coming and going but side gait somewhat spoiled by her tendency
to run down hill and into her front assembly.
3. WAYMANS CHEYENNE SUN DANCER (Ch.
Castell Killin' Time x Cadets Waymans Lady Empress, HC).
Breeder/Owner: Rachael Wayman. Sable bitch with good side
gait. She could use a pound or two off.
4. TRESAITH-LAMIN SCANDALOUS (Ch.
Lamin Paws Somebody Lied x Ch. Lamin Impulsive O'Tresaith,
NA). Breeders: Janet & Bill Richardson. Owners: Janet
Richardson & Phyllis Lambert & Mary Miner. This tri
bitch is good in type, balance and head qualities. She is
wide in front and upright in shoulder and this tends to spoil
her movement coming and from the side. It is too bad as she
is a very nice type of bitch.
Veteran Bitches
(2)
1.
CH. WALBORAH'S ABELIA BROGAN, HC (Saddle
Lane Touch of Basil x Ch. Walborah's Hobby). Breeder:
Deborah Harper. Owners: Mari Fleming Carroll & Brooke
Fleming.
2. CH. TALLYRAND AMAZING LOVE (Ch.
Nebriowa Jovan x Ch.Tallyrand Ode To Joy). Breeders/-Owners:
Joseph & Lois Zelenski.
What a delight to have both of these lovely bitches
in a class together. I have long admired them both and on
the day both were showing their hearts out and looked wonderful.
Amazing Love was looking so fit and young and showed every
minute. I have always loved her good length and balance,
correct length of neck and good angulation, as well as her
pretty head and expression. Abelia Brogan I have admired
from ringside many times but was so pleased to be able to
go over her on the table. She did not disappoint me. She
was in lovely condition with good shoulder layback, good
rear angulation, proper length and topline. Her most appealing
quality to me is the fact that she has absolutely no exaggerations.
All of her parts fit together as one complete picture.
In the end, Abelia Brogan moved cleanly coming and
going, and flowed around the ring. Amazing Love was not
as settled on the go round and her exuberance caused her
side gait to falter. I gave the nod to Abelia Brogan, and
felt as if I had just judged a specialty with those two
bitches.
Best of Breed
(13)
CH.
WALBORAH'S ABELIA BROGAN, HC (Saddle Lane
Touch of Basil x Ch. Walborah's Hobby). Breeder: Deborah Harper.
Owners: Mari Fleming Carroll & Brooke Fleming. I have
been to several specialties in the past couple of years when
I thought Abelia Brogan might just win the breed. This show
was no exception and although I had some lovely quality Specials,
this really seemed to be her day. I will remember her for
her balance, style, great movement and showmanship as well
as the way she "fits the standard". It was my extreme pleasure
to award Ch. Walborah Abelia Brogan BEST
OF BREED. My congratulations to her breeder
and her owner/handler.
Best of Opposite

XIII
MAPLES STELLAR IDEA (Ch. Salvenik Sweet Thoughts
x XIII Maples Star Shadow). Breeder/Owner: Ellen C. Childs.
I couldn't deny my winners dog this award. His balance, outline,
and overall condition as well as his good balanced side gait
and lovely head piece fit the bill for BEST
OF WINNERS and BEST OF OPPOSITE.
Selection of Merit
CH. TALLYRAND NO GREATER LOVE (Ch. Llandians
Sweet Success x Ch.Tallyrand Amazing Love). Breeders/Owners:
Joseph & Lois Zelenski. This very impressive red and white
dog was close up to the winners dog for the Best of Opposite
award. Although a bit on the large side for me, he is a sound
dog with good outline and balance. Good topline which he holds
on the move. A top quality dog.
SWEEPSTAKES 1999
patty gailey (triad)
Thank you to all club members and exhibitors who made
my trip to New Jersey so memorable. Your hospitality and
sportsmanship were the greatest. Jane Altar made her stewarding
debut with aplomb and helped tremendously with the logistics
required by a slightly infirm judge! Melody Kist, Joan Giesler,
Arkie Marquis, Helen Maddock, Phyllis Farrer and most especially
Karen Gunzel were wonderful tour guides and thoughtful caretakers.
My traveling companion, Linda Muglach, did yeoman's duty
wheeling me up and down endless airport ramps and corridors.
Lynne and Harold Small were gracious hosts, and our stay
in their lovely home was a highlight of the weekend. The
beautifully presented dogs and pleasant exhibitors made
the dreary day a non-issue. I enjoyed my assignment very
much.

6-9 Puppy Dogs (6)
1. WINDHAMLAIR
THOMAS OLIVER (Foxway Jorash Pending Scandal
x Windhamlair Black Eyed Sally). Breeder/Owner: Pamela
A. Mills. A stylish red and white puppy who handled the uneven
ring surface with very little effort. Nice arch of neck leading
into a firm topline--both standing and on the move. Short
hocks and good bone. Dark eye and eye rims, muzzle a little
heavy and ears need to firm. BEST
OF OPPOSITE SEX to Best in Sweeps.
2. WOODHENGE DREAM CASTER (Ninacorte
Star Caster At Woodhenge x Woodhenge Summer Breeze). Breeders:
Barry & Sue Coulson. Owners: Joseph and Dora Carter. Light
red and white with a lovely head and expression. His movement
was balanced and free, but topline was off moving and standing.
Nice bone and length of leg.
3. NORTHRUN FAIRWAY REGATTA (CH Tallyrand
No Greater Love x Tereyn Northrun Fairie Dancer). Breeder:
Cathy Donovan. Owners: Linda Hills & Arthur Malaussena.
Another good moving red & white puppy, low on leg with
nice bone and dark eye, whose topline let him down. Reluctant
to participate today.
4. WINDHAMLAIR GOLD RUSH (CH Windhamlair
Great Scott x Windhamlair Heart of Liberty). Owner/-Breeder:
Pamela A. Mills. Red and white with pleasing overall proportions
and good side movement. Would prefer a darker eye rim.
9 - 12 Puppy Dogs
(6)
1. CORGARDS STONE COLD (Foxway Legacy
Pending x CH Corgard Cocktails-N-Cruisin). Breeders/Owners:
Kandy L. Boll & Michelle Pohl. A light red and white dog
with lovely length of neck and topline. Good, workmanlike
side movement. His otherwise pleasing head would benefit from
a larger eye. Well up to size.
2. STORMWEY WYLD GUY (Stormwey Wyld
Style x Stormwey Supa Doll). Breeder: Barbara Hyde. Owners:
Rutledge & Nash Parker. A smaller red and white with light
sabling. Beautiful outline and correctly proportioned headpiece.
Appeared to be a free mover from the side, but was not giving
his best today.
3. WYNDSHYR SPIRIT OF THE DANCE (CH
Windshyr A Cool Million x Windshyr Ice Dancer). Breeder:
Sharon Grous Owners: Sharon Grous & George & Jan Bailey.
Red and white with lots of dark mascara and dark muzzle. Nice
length of body but would prefer less length of leg and topline
did not hold consistently.
4. WINDSHYR RIVERDANCE (CH Windshyr
A Cool Million x Windshyr Ice Dancer). Breeder: Sharon
Grous. Owners: Karen Havens & Sharon Grous. A red and
white very much the style of his litter brother above.
12 - 18 Dogs
(5)
1. XIII
MAPLES STELLAR IDEA (CH Salvenik Sweet Thoughts
x XIII Maples Star Shadow). Breeder/Owner: Ellen Childs.
A striking r/h tri with a gorgeous headpiece. Very pleasing
height to length body proportions with lovely arch of neck.
A bit distracted at times, but could move with purpose on
occasion. Heavy coat on croup refused to be tamed in the rain
and detracted from his topline. In strong contention for Best
Opp.
2. TALLYRAND BYRAM'S LOVE SONNET (CH
Tallyrand No Greater Love x Tallyrand Brynmere First Love).
Breeders: Joseph & Lois Zelenski. Owners: Sarah &
Lauren Phillips. Red and white dog with a pretty face and
nice dark eye rims. Short hocks with good, oval bone. A free
and easy mover from the side. He was slightly shorter in body
than #1.
3. FOXTALE'S SWEET TALKIN' GUY (CH
Llandian Sweet Success x Foxtale's Tanqueray). Breeder/Owner:
Virginia C. Fitzgerald. This light red and white had a good
hard back and moved around the ring with purpose. I would
prefer more length of neck. Dark eye and pleasant expression,
but a bit heavy in brow and top skull.
4. BRUNSWIGS ANIMAL CRACKERS (CH
Ninacorte Chicago Hope x CH Brunswig's Violette). Breeder:
Phyllis Farrer. Owners: Sue King & Karen Fruhmann &
Phyllis Farrer. Dark red dog whose plainly marked head did
not detract from his pleasing expression and lovely eye. Nice
short hocks, correct oval bone and good topline. Nice side
mover. Again, would prefer more neck.
6-9 Puppy Bitches
(10)
1. FOXWAY HOW SWEET IT IS (Jorash
Foxway Tigereye x Foxway Never Second). Breeders: Sandra
Mottes & Donna Rosciti. Owner: Sandra Mottes. A beautiful
red and white puppy who was a real showgirl in this class,
but a change of handlers unsettled her for Best In Sweeps.
Very pretty head with nice dark eye and mascara. Lovely neck
flowing into a level back. Nice bone and substance. Moving
freely with balance from
the side.
2. MILESTONE MOON AFTERGLOW (CH Heronsway
How Sweet It Is x CH Heronsway Velvet Moon). Breeder/Owner:
Donna M. Gilbert. Lovely sable and white puppy whose wonderful
substance did not diminish her femininity. Large, dark eye
with melting expression. Beautiful turn of stifle. Showing
her youth by being unsettled, nonetheless could move with
impressive reach and drive when she applied herself.
3. ZUKI'S LIZA JANE (CH Hallmarks
Olympian x Zuki's My Friend Flicka). Breeder/Owner: Marilyn
Zukowski. Plush r/h tri with gorgeous head and very expressive
eyes. Lovely length of neck and body. Lower on leg than the
two above and did not cover quite as much ground when moving.
4. CANTERBURY ENGLISH BROCADE (CH
Foxway Legacy Spring Reddy x Llandian-Canterbury Matilda).
Breeders/Owners: Dolores & Roger Bechard. Pert red and
white with nice length of body and neck. Short hocks. Good
mover from the side, but topline could let down on occasion.
Would prefer a slightly larger eye.
9-12 Puppy Bitches
(5)
1. CARTERHALL LITTLE INDIAN (CH Sunline
Grizzly King x Carterhall Housekeeper). Breeders/-Owners:
Joseph & Dora Carter. R/h tri bitch with the best shoulder
of the day...excellent layback with nice, long upper arm.
Pretty face with nice dark eye of correct shape and size.
Pleasing proportions in length of neck, back and leg. A no-nonsense
mover who looked as if she could go all day. Quietly elegant.
2. FESTINIOG ARBOR LYRIC (CH Arbor
Festiniog Sea Epic x CH Festiniog Arbor Seascape). Breeders/Owners:
Margaret G. Thomas & Kathleen A. Broska. A glamorous r/h
tri bitch who moved out with lots of pizzazz. Short hocks
and very nice length of neck and back. A bit upright in front
with a slight bounce over the withers when moving. A quality
bitch with lots to like.
3. HONEYFOX STELLA BY STARLIGHT (CH
Sandfox Flying Finish, CDX x Honeyfox Buttons N Bows).
Breeder/Owner: Susan Strickland. A light sable bitch with
lovely dark eyes and pretty face although slightly heavy in
brow. Very nice outline standing, good bone and substance.
Showed a balanced, easy gait when moving, but topline could
have been firmer.
4. HIGH FLYER BOBBY SNOWSHOES (CH
High Flyer Denali Express x High Flyer Lace Wing). Breeders:
Crystal & Frank Swanda. Owners: Erma & Ralph Kovach,
MD. A r/h tri bitch who had dark, well shaped eyes and good
length of body but was an unwilling participant today.
12-18 Bitches
(11)
Wow! Not enough ribbons in this class!
1. LLANDIANS
MAD ABOUT YOU (CH Heronsway How Sweet It Is
x Llandian's Simply Elegant). Breeder/Owner: Dianne Connolly.
A lovely, feminine sable bitch with the sweetest of faces.
Excellent head proportions. She was elegance personified standing
and then all business as she moved effortlessly around the
ring. Beautifully balanced with ground covering reach and
drive. I loved her outline and substance. Very aptly named...I
was mad about her!...and happy to make her BEST
IN SWEEPS.
2. TALLYRAND
BELIEVE IN MIRACLES (CH Tallyrand No Greater
Love x Tallyrand Brynmere First Love). Breeders: Joseph
& Lois Zelenski. Owners: Mary-Elizabeth Simpson &
Lois Zelenski. A smashing r/h tri bitch presented in immaculate
condition and very much in sync with her handler. This puppy
was similar in style to #1...long and elegant, lovely head
and expression, and lots of substance without being coarse
in any way. Moved out smartly and pushed hard for first place.
3. TALLYRAND BYE BYE BIRDIE (CH Tallyrand
No Greater Love x Tallyrand Brynmere First Love). Breeders:
Joseph & Lois Zelenski. Owners: Cathy Donovan & Lois
Zelenski. A light red and white bitch in a slightly more mature
mold. Moved quite fluidly when she wasn't pulling her "reluctant
act" and kept her level topline at all times. Pretty face
and wonderful substance. Would like a bit more neck to be
picky.
4. PEMINTENN SPORTS NEWS (CH Hallmarks
Olympian x Saddle Lanes Paige One). Breeder: Nancy Schaefer.
Owners: Cynthia & Vince Savioli & Roberta Lord. A
lovely r/h tri with great length of body and nice short hocks.
Loved her dark, soulful eyes. Won her placement in this nice
class on her free and easy side motion, though she could occasionally
let down in mid piece.
