PWCCGS Puppy Referral
"Helping well-bred corgis find their way into loving
homes"
Contact chairperson:
Irene
Ferrant
732.383.7433
Through this service, we put prospective homes for
corgi puppies in touch with PWCCGS member-breeders who have puppies
available. If no puppies are currently "on the ground",
your name will be put on a waiting list.
If you are anxious for a corgi, please don't go to a pet shop.
Many Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppies end up coming into
our rescue program because they
were an impulse purchase from a pet shop. Often people fall for
the cute puppy in the store without giving consideration to what
the dog will be like when it is an adult. Corgis were originally
bred to move 1000 pound cattle and move large herds of sheep. Because
of this, they are a head strong little dog that can be stubborn
and think independently. They require consistent, firm training.
They can be a loud, energetic dog and they require
a lot of exercise. They shed. They can shed a lot.
If you are placed on a waiting list, be patient. Or, consider adopting
a Pembroke Welsh Corgi rescue dog.
Either way, review the resource links below before
you bring any dog into your home!

Helping You to Decide
The American Kennel Club has put together some excellent articles
that you should read that cover the following:
Our parent club, The
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, also has some information
on their site that might help you decide if a Pembroke Welsh Corgi
is for you. |
